son stato a bergamo tempo fa, c’era in giro un disastro di gente che han riaperto l’accademia carrara.
sarebbe, l’accademia carrara, per i non bergamaschi, un bel posto pieno di opere d’arte. han fatto dei restauri è stata chiusa per credo degli anni, non so per quanto tempo di preciso perchè a bergamo non ci vivo da tanto non sono molto aggiornato sulle cronache locali dovrei documentarmi meglio ma il tempo a disposizione è sempre quel che è.
e niente, han riaperto l’accademia carrara per l’inaugurazione si entrava gratis lo scorso fine settimana c’era tutto un movimento di appassionati d’arte.
e mi è venuto in mente che quando a bergamo ci vivevo, per un po’ di tempo ho fatto il giornalista, scrivevo per una testata nazionale una volta mi avevano chiamato all’accademia carrara perchè avevano lì un taglio di fontana che era stato dedicato dall’autore lucio fontana al famoso ciclista felice gimondi, dovevo scrivere un articolo per il giornale.
ora, devo dire, comincio ad aver qualche dubbio sulla veridicità di questo racconto perchè mi ricordo che dietro al quadro di fontana c’era la dedica a gimondi, sono andato adesso su internet a cercare questa dedica ma non trovo nessuna notizia che metta insieme lucio fontana e felice gimondi, forse tutta questa storia me la sto inventando di sana pianta, e può essere che l’opera non era di fontana o il ciclista non era gimondi, chi lo sa.
comunque io mi ricordo così, che mi han chiamato, sono andato e c’era questo evento per cui mettevano in mostra all’accademia carrara un taglio di fontana dedicato a gimondi ed era presente all’evento felice gimondi in persona all’epoca sessantenne, se poi era lui e io mi ricordo bene la storia. grande assente lucio fontana aimè deceduto a comabbio il sette settembre millenovecentosessantotto. e io sto parlando di un evento avvenuto, sempre se non mi sto inventando tutto, nel duemilaeuno.
insomma, c’era questo evento con rinfresco a seguire e il direttore dell’accademia tutto orgoglioso presentava l’opera di fontana in presenza di gimondi. che io non è che lo conosca personalmente, felice gimondi, però me lo immagino molto ciclista. un po’ come dire molto calciatore, se vogliam capire cosa intendo.
infatti mi ricordo che era lì attonito, che presenziava all’evento e aveva la faccia di quello che si è perso al supermercato.
e quando ad un certo punto il direttore dell’accademia ha ceduto la parola a gimondi chiedendogli di dire due parole, io adesso son passati degli anni, non ricordo assolutamente cosa ha detto gimondi, ricordo che ha detto qualcosa di imbarazzato, il succo era mah, sì, io non me ne intendo molto di arte comunque son molto orgoglioso che fontana mi abbia dedicato quest’opera.
e mentre ero lì recentemente a bergamo, a farmi un giro all’accademia carrara, mi è tornato in mente questo evento che ha avuto luogo ormai più di vent’anni anni fa e non sono nemmeno sicuro che si trattasse di fontana e di gimondi però mi son detto sarebbe stato bello se gimondi quando gli chiedevano di dire qualcosa prendeva il microfono e con la sua praticità da ciclista, da uomo votato alla fatica del corpo e non all’arte, diceva beh, pensa il suo telaista, di fontana.
come? gli avrebbe chiesto il direttore dell’accademia carrara.
no, dico, quello che a fontana gli preparava i telai, le tele, con il legno e la tela.
e allora?
eh, dico, poveraccio, secondo me mica gli stava dietro, a fontana, avrà dovuto lavorare come un matto, non faceva in tempo a preparargli le tele e a consegnargliele che già fontana le aveva trasformate tutte in opere d’arte, era velocissimo.

I was in Bergamo some time ago, there was lots of people in town because they reopened the Carrara Academy.
for non-Bergamo residents, the Carrara Academy is a beautiful place full of works of art. they have done some restoration to the building, it has been closed for years, I don’t know for how long exactly because I haven’t lived in Bergamo for a long time I’m not very up to date on local news.
so, they reopened the Carrara Academy for the inauguration, it was free to enter last weekend, there was lots of art enthusiasts all around.
you have to know that when I lived in Bergamo, I was a journalist for a while, I wrote for a national newspaper, once they had called me to the Carrara Academy because they had there a “cut” of Fontana that had been dedicated by author Lucio Fontana to the very famous cyclist Felice Gimondi, that was born in Bergamo, and I had to write an article for the newspaper.
now, I must say, I’m starting to have some doubts about the veracity of this story because I remember that behind the picture of the fountain there was the dedication to Gimondi, I’ve now gone on the internet to look for this dedication but I can’t find any writing or picture or anything that brings together Lucio Fontana and Felice Gimondi, maybe I’m making this whole story up in my imagination, and it could be that the artwork was not by Fontana or the cyclist was not Gimondi, who knows.
however, this is what I remember: that the editorial staff called me, I went to the Carrara Academy and there was this event, they put on display a “cut” of Fontana dedicated to Gimondi. and Felice Gimondi himself was present at the event at the age of sixty, if it was him and if I remember the story well. great absent was Lucio Fontana, who died in Comabbio on 7th september 1968. and I’m talking about an event that took place, if I’m not making it all up, in the year 2001.
in short, there was this official event and the proud director of the academy presented the Fontana’s artwork in the presence of Gimondi. I don’t know him personally, Felice Gimondi, but I imagine him as an oldtimer cyclist. a bit like saying very footballer, if you want to understand what I mean.
in fact I remember that he was there astonished, he attended the event and had all the time long the face of one who got lost in the supermarket.
and when at one point the director of the academy gave the floor to Gimondi, asking him to say a few words. now, years have passed, I absolutely don’t remember what Gimondi said, I remember he said something embarrassed, the recap should be: eh, yes, I don’t know much about art, however I am very proud that Fontana has dedicated this artwork to me.
So, when I was in Bergamo recently, again visiting the Carrara Academy, I remembered this event that took place more than twenty years ago and still I’m not even sure it was about Fontana and Gimondi but I said to myself it would have been nice if Gimondi, when asked to say something took the microphone and with the his practicality as a cyclist, as a man devoted to body fatigue and not to art, if he have said well: oh, think about Fontana’s frame builder.
how? the director of the Carrara academy would have asked him.
no, I mean, the one who used to prepare for Fontana the looms, the canvases, with wood and canvas.
so?
eh, I mean, poor fellow, in my opinion he must have had to work like crazy, he didn’t have time to prepare the canvases and deliver them to him before Fontana had already transformed them all into works of art, he was very fast.
